New
York, NY, October 9, 2003
RTTS, a leader in automated application and architecture
testing, today announced a new service that provides
IT organizations with an option other than outsourcing
their quality assurance and testing work to companies
in Asia and Eastern Europe. |
|
| As
a proactive thrust against offshore outsourcing,
RTTS is offering a new service called Onshore Automated
Testing, a low-cost delivery model that is competitive
in the global marketplace. This program is based
on the concept of lowering the cost of bringing
automated testing onsite while retaining the work
in the United States, specifically in New York City,
using expert American labor. The pricing models
are competitive with offshore outsourcing groups,
yet RTTS delivers higher levels of quality and more
flexible benefits to the client while avoiding the
issues inherent with the offshore model. |
|
|
| "We
know that this model will allow us to be price-competitive
using American software engineers in our New York
City labs and still maintain the consistent level
of quality that we have always delivered," stated
Bill Hayduk, director of professional services for
RTTS. "This new model removes the hazards of offshore
outsourcing while providing the client with the
benefits that outsourcing presents." |
|
|
|
| Industry
analysts and research groups have called offshore
outsourcing -the exporting of jobs to companies
located outside of the United States to lower labor
costs or tax savings - an "irreversible megatrend".
Recent statements from industry analysts illustrate
the current position of the American IT industry.
|
|
| |
 |
Gartner
predicts by 2004 more than 40 percent of companies
will have already shipped some tech-related
work overseas or will be testing the idea.
Another Gartner report forecasts that by 2005,
the North American IT industry will be outsourcing
work worth $160 billion. |
|
| |
 |
Forrester
Research Inc. came out with a study that said
that 3.3 million white-collar jobs would go
overseas by 2015. |
|
| |
 |
In an IDC
report the research firm said offshore outsourcing
is the dominant trend in the IT services industry,
with 42% of the application management contracts
now having some offshore component. |
|
|
|
|
| At
the program launch, RTTS' web site discusses the
major pitfalls of outsourcing abroad and cites research
supporting onshore outsourcing. For example, in
a recent Gartner survey of 900 large U.S. companies
that outsource IT work offshore, a majority complained
of difficulty in communicating and meeting deadlines.
Other publications cite the lack of privacy, security
and IT infrastructure, language barriers, cultural
disparity, geopolitical risk, shortcomings in international
laws protecting intellectual property, geographic
time differences, and other shortcomings. Additionally,
the outcry to maintain American jobs in the current
economy and legislative intervention to stop the
offshore flow, fuels this controversial issue. |
